Happy Easter, friends!

No, no, worry not…some weird Back to The Future time warp has not taken over the world…while many of you enjoyed Easter festivities this weekend, our family chose to celebrate on Sunday. The calendar date is not of primary significance; the act of meeting together is the true meaning of celebration.
We gathered Sunday, late afternoon, at my parents’ condo. So good to see everyone! (Although we missed you, Joel and Andrea!). ❤ xoxo.
My mom takes genuine pleasure in hosting family get-togethers (somehow I missed inheriting this gene; having a dinner party-type affair stresses me out!).
Mom gives time and attention to setting a welcoming table….
…and preparing delicious food (more on the menu in a moment).
Traditionally, we meet up as family for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The Easter menu always features Canadian Honey Ham:
(Our Christmas features turkey dinner while Thanksgiving is the time for pizza and wings. Seriously).
Yesterday, we gathered in the late aft so that we could enjoy ample visiting time. A lot of chitchat centred on travel: Kate and Pete visited Egypt this winter; Paul and Sharon vacationed in Mexico; I was in Aruba; where has The Brother NOT been recently?!
The desire to see the world is alive and well in us all.
Permit some cousinly bragging for a moment:
Mom and Dad have the most fabulous solid wood table. With extensions, it easily accomodates us all:
We feasted on…
…but made sure to leave room for dessert. Decisions, decisions…
Many of us chose the easy route: a slice of each, please!
Along with the enjoyable adult conversation, Aunti got to spend time with the little darlings. Little E and Baby C were as adorable as always:
I always return home feeling filled to the brim with warm fuzzies after seeing my dear family.
Maybe a golf game gathering will happen this summer (although with Joel in Australia, Pete, are you OK with filling in to make the foursome?!), with a family BBQ to follow…depends on everyone’s travel and vacation schedules!
A happy time was had by all. Easter in May? Why not?!
