six for sunday

1. friday evening was just the best. i was feeling pretty beat after a go-go-go day at theOTHERstore (for whatever reason, i processed about three times the amount of transactions that i normally do during a day shift…which is good! we like high $sales$!) and a night in sounded lovely. mom and dad were away visiting friends and so i crashed at their place (they were aware of this) to watch crap tv (you’ll remember i don’t have a tv). i didn’t even knit – i lay down on the loveseat, head on one arm rest, legs hanging over the other end, and flicked away through the channels, eventually settling on “i found my gown” and then an episode of “friends.” i felt exactly like i was fifteen years old again! sometimes you need to spend time being mindless.

2. three of these statements about friday are true and one is false: stephen hawking was in my ‘hood; the brother was interviewed for npr; i bought my SIXTH pair of nike free’s; it was the last full day of summer 2012.

3. bloggers kath and janae are two classy gals, each in their own way: the packages i mailed arrived super quick via canada post (amazing) and last sunday i received the nicest emails from each new mom – janae emailed the most exuberant note of thanks, and we had a cheery email exchange back and forth; kath sent an e-card with the most sincere, warm and friendly thank you message inside. happy vibes all around! (and the smarties, pc chocolate and apple butter have all made blog appearances this week!).

4. yesterday, the weather forecast called for rain. i set out for my early-a.m. run wearing a ball cap and two layers of long-sleeve shirts (and just about boiled, thank goodness i had shorts on to balance things off), anticipating that a downpour could strike at any moment. well, i enjoyed rain-free conditions the entire time i was out, and in fact, witnessed the most amazing cloud + sun configurations -> it looked just like i could see right up into heaven.

5. knitting seed stitch with cream-coloured yarn is about as boring as knitting can get. i am falling asleep at my needles…but a blanket needs a border. i predict a very small border for this current project…i can’t take much more!!!

6. unless something extraordinary happens, i shall see you again on thanksgiving weekend with a list of 42 things for which i am thankful.

happy sunday!

(i am seeing bff debbie later and we are either going to stalk an interior designer who has appeared on hgtv and lives in our nearby westmount neighbourhood OR go to costco. either option is fine by me!).

(i did not buy a new pair of shoes!).

    Wow—geez so many great things!
I need to make a list for myself, I’m feeling stuck today on the things that are not happening, and I bet if I made a list of great things going on I’d feel much more optimistic!

    • 1970kikiproject  On September 23, 2012 at 8:27 pm

make that list, lisa! it helps to lay thoughts out in black and white and form a plan. you know, i almost put YOU on MY list because i so applaud your decision re your sabbatical year – i admire you (and am a little jealous that you are in cali!!).

I was at Costco today! I was in and out as quickly as I could be! It was already a zoo at 10:15!

We should schedule a coffee date soon. I’ll e-mail you!

I’m glad thanksgiving means something much earlier to folks in Canada than it does to people in the u.s. But, I hear you on the blogging breaks…I plan one after I meet my goal for the year!
That’s really cool about Stephen Hawking and your bro (i’d love to know what he was interviewed for if you want to tell/link…[but fine if not...]).
I firmly believe that one day a month at the least should be dedicated to doing nothing in particular. For some reason, I can watch “chopped” on food network for hours and not get bored!
I’m glad your run went well and your presents got the appreciation they deserved!

zo, thanks for the lovely sunday morning chat! any idea on when you will hit your blogging goal?? (ie weeks vs months??). i will let you know about the brother’s interview…it has not yet aired! tonight = more crap tv -> the emmy’s!!!

      • Zo  On September 23, 2012 at 10:56 am

If I keep up with my current 3 a week pace, I’ll have met my 175-200 posts this year goal by the end of the year (and at this pace, it’ll be closer to 175)! So, unless I start doing a post a day for a few weeks (not happening)…I’d say I’m looking at a bit of a break come January.
Cool..can’t wait to hear more about the interview!

      • 1970kikiproject  On September 23, 2012 at 10:59 am

neato!! hard to believe we are looking towards the end of the year…but it’s true, only three months (basically) left in 2012!!

  • Stacie @ Snaps and Bits  On September 23, 2012 at 8:11 am

I totally thought you bought the shoes, ha! Steven Hawking, really? So cool. I’m not sure I get #6. Are you not blogging until Thanksgiving? I hope to see you before then!

    • 1970kikiproject  On September 23, 2012 at 8:20 am

yes, i am going to take a blogging break, stacie…unless i have something i just have to talk abou! (could happen!). i know – stephen hawking!!! wish i could have been home to stalk him!!!

I like going to Costco for lunch, especially around Christmas. They have the BEST free samples! I do the same thing when I’m at my parents’ house. We don’t have cable, so whenever I go there I end up watching hours and hours of mindless television. Usually on HGTV. Best mindless TV station of all time. And I don’t even really care about renovations or redecorating…but I can always find something to watch!

    • 1970kikiproject  On September 23, 2012 at 7:47 am

stephanie, between foodnetwork and hgtv, i could be entertained endlessly…and i don’t know why since i don’t like cooking and (like you) i am not into decorating?!! glad your parents give you free choice with their tv, too!

  • Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count  On September 23, 2012 at 7:01 am

You do the best lists, Cathy! Your brother was interviewed for NPR? How cool! I do TOO much of that mindless TV watching. Working on getting out of the habit. Boy do I have a lot of habits to fix! Have a great Sunday!

    • 1970kikiproject  On September 23, 2012 at 7:46 am

thanks, fran! mindless tv is just too fun…and all of a sudden time has evaporated! have a great day!
