photos of the day: saturday november 10th:
at 8:15 a.m. this morning, it was time to kick off GUM CHEWING DAY! oh, the anticipation!!
[if jamie lee curtis can put her make-up free face out into the public for all the world to see, so can i!].
the first chew at the official time of 8:23 a.m. EST:
sweaty cardio + gum equals not a good idea, but there is no reason why you can’t strengthen, stretch and foam roll, all the while enjoying a resounding chomp, snap and bubble-blowing session!
then, we chewed gum…
~ while applying nail polish!
~ while talking to mom on the phone!
~ while knitting (fake project – christmas is upcoming, remember?):
since i have a feeling snooki would approve highly of this gum chewing day, i dressed in her honour today: i applied an extra layer of orange bronzer, wore my bedazzling hat, and my sparkly hoop earrings:
we chewed gum while walking to work!
and, during a quiet moment at the store, we posed, mid-chew…
i took a gum free break for a while…my jaw was feeling noticeably stiff by this time. i also felt like my jaw had become mis-aligned, angling to the right.
after work, i met up with juanita at s’bux. i had planned on chomping ‘n’ talking but took another break, instead. just before we parted ways, i popped in my next piece:
then, i returned home where the gum pacs and i checked in with a few blogs…
…and started composing this post:
at this time (~6:40 pm EST), i have SEVEN sticks of gum to go. my jaw is tired, and i have had sufficient of these peppermint and bubble gum flavours, but i am confident i can finish these last pieces off!
[sidenote: total gum chewing time today will equal 7 hours, total. i chew each piece for 15 minutes so that's 28 x 15 = 7 hours].
final thoughts: today was fun and funny, both planning these photo opps and actually chewing my gum. gum sure is tasty. but, that is IT for gum chewing, i am going back to being gum-free. it’d be super easy for me to slide back into daily gum chomping, and gum is not a necessity for life enjoyment, it’s simply a habit. now, i will look ahead with glee to DIET COKE DAY on december 9th!!
are you a gum chewer?? i have never chewed through 28 pieces of gum in one day. mark today as a new experience!

So funny! My jaw was starting to hurt just reading this. I have gone through various stages of chewing gum but haven’t for years. It was not an active decision, just lost it’s appeal I guess.
stacie, you know, i am so surprised today because my jaw is not sore at all, but my lips are chapped and my tongue feels like sandpaper!
Too funny! I’m glad you got to enjoy your gun I get into it from time to time and know the aching jaw issue well. And I love popping the gum! Glad you enjoyed!
Wow…that’s a LOT of gum! I have in the past few months started to chew gum again. I use it as something to do to keep me from snacking. Also to keep my mouth from being so dry. I drink a lot of water anyway and end up in the bathroom so much, I figure that if gum will keep my mouth moist it’s a good idea. I don’t get carried away with it. It’s also useful on car trips for the same non-drinking reason! This is really very funny, Cathy! Can’t wait for Diet Coke day!!
fran, i noticed yesterday that the gum sure did keep my mouth from being dry – i had not remembered that happening so vividly!! gum does have its useful purposes – preventing boredom sure is one!!
this is a pretty darn funny post, cath! i chew gum quite regularly – like once or twice a day if i’m out and about in public. but never 2 whole packs of the stuff! too funny!
gina, i have two memories about you and gum: 1) the brand called THRILLS -> i remember you enjoying that type! 2) our codename for “you know who” in grade 9!! i have had enough gum!!
