Tuesday in Aruba: Poolside!

It was a beautiful day in Aruba:

look up, look wayyyy up!

I did not win at BINGO.

First thing this morning, I found myself a lounge chair by the pool and settled in:

vacation multi-tasking: reading the aruba daily "newspaper," knitting on a's sweater, tanning, people watching

And I soon reconnected with my friend Julie from Chicago!

that's julie!

Julie is a typical American – and I sincerely mean that in the best of complimentary terms! She is outgoing, funny, boisterous, friendly…just a lot of fun to stand around in the pool with visit with. Us Canadians, as the stereotype goes, are reserved and polite (true, for the most part) and I admire Americans who are a lot more quick to make friends and chat up a storm.

official tanning-as-a-power-sport shot of the day!

And look what joined me on deck!…

this photo's for you, little e and baby c!

lizards are quite a common sight - they won't bother you...except they may walk over your toes!

I did a little shopping at the stores around the resort. You know, I really quite enjoy looking over souvenir-type wares! Still on the lookout for flipflops and a mug!

We were back to regularly scheduled activities today since Carnaval is now over. And that means pool aerobics at 11 a.m.!

Normally, I stay away from swimming pools. I dislike immensely being cold and wet. But when it’s about 98 degrees out, and the sky looks like this…

definitely a crayola colour!

I will make an exception.

let's get the party started!

In typical Aruba fashion, 11:00 aerobics began shortly after 11:15! I keep reminding myself to forget schedules – I’m on vacation!

As in previous years, I had so much fun!!! The ex-aerobics instructor in me loved getting back to co-ordinating arm actions and foot steps around a strong 4-count music beat. Our first song? My current fave by the Black Eyed Peas – The Time…which was quickly followed by Taio Cruz and Dynamite! Wa-Hoo!

Even MORE fun was that Minon is back as the instructor! Last time we were here, Minon arranged for me to get these shorts…

i have a weakness for shorts with writing across the butt – sorry!

Glad I brought them along on this trip!

Jirida, once again, was our BINGO caller today:

love her style: she calls the numbers at a fast clip, is very clear, very organized with the money

my moms secure seats for the four of us; this year we are up nice and close to bingo-central-station (that's marian in the front, there)

I read some more of my novel, too. Less than 100 pages to go!

The plan for this eve: I am going on a search for Aruba Aloe – mom and I always buy some down here. Aruba is known for its aloe! But I like to scout around and find the best price. The kiosk where I am going tonight has been the winner in past years! Let’s hope that is still true!

Maybe tomorrow I should stake out a spot on the beach, finally!

Happy Pancake Tuesday Night!

    Looks like an awesome time!
I am totally with you on the not getting in pools unless it is really super duper hot! Even then, I don’t usually want to.
That lizard looks really big and kinda freaky!

    Glad you’re having fun 🙂

Wow…you look like you are having so much fun..I’m so very jealous! Especially because you hit that perfect combo of getting some things done while relaxing and having fun. I salute you!

I’ve been to Florida, but not any of the islands. Mr. sc has been to the Caribbean so we’ve talked about doing that one day (but the list is long!)
