Marathon Monday

Today is the 115th running of the Boston Marathon!

I get giddy with excitement on Marathon Monday. Christmas, my birthday…Boston Marathon Monday ranks right up there as one of my favourite days of the year.

I will never, ever, forget my memories from the three Mondays I ran in Boston! I start to reminisce, and can’t keep the smile off my face.

i have a jacket, photos, tshirts...and a more permanent *souvenir* that i just got last year!...

Unfortunately, I will have to wait until tomorrow or later this week to watch the three hours of televised coverage – I’ve PVR’d it –  (TSN, starting at 9:30 a.m., if you’re local) because I’ve got my own Marathon Monday going on, today!

Today’s work schedule:

~ 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the store

~ 2:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at another of our locations! Why did I agree to work this double shift? Because it’s a New Experience!

I’ll recap tomorrow!

In the meantime, go racers go!

~If you aspire to run the Boston Marathon, pursue your dream. The journey will be as rewarding as making it to the special race, itself.~

Will you watch the race, either on TV or online? Some people find it inspirational; others (ie The Brother!) liken it to watching paint dry. Tina‘s got Marathon Fever! A couple of her latest blog entries feature the marathon: Marathon in the Air; Spectator Tips for the Boston Marathon.

One year, I couldn’t find televised coverage from among our regular cable stations on our home TV – we had to go to The Huether and watch the TV there! Thanks to their satellite system, they could capture the feed from the U.S.! I’m so happy that TSN will show the race today!

I think it’s so cool that you’ve run Boston 3 times! Amazing. I picked up some shifts over the past weekend so I feel you! Cheers to your new experience. 🙂

Glad you got some more time at YOUR store, dorry! Hope you have a good week ahead: not too many, not too few work hours!

I’ve only watched chunks of the marathon — usually online. It is very exciting! I hope to be there one day (whether I’m running or watching!)

oh, i hope you get there some day, too, holly! either way – spectator or participant, would be so fun, eh! the women’s race is underway!! hope you get to catch some of the action at some point today!

I actually didn’t realize there was live coverage of these marathons! I’ll have to poke around and see if I can find it.
I clicked over to read your tattoo post…I love that you commemorated your runs and left space for more. Have you contemplated more visits to Bryan?
    Good luck with your shifts!

thanks, zo! yes – i eventually would like two more tattoos…maybe another one some time this year, and then the (maybe?!) last one…some time. oh, i hope you can find coverage! if you have cable or satellite, you should have luck (??!)

Unfortunately none of the local stations covers the Boston and I don’t subscribe to cable. Guess I’ll have to be satisfied to read about it. I would love to see it in person some day. I’m impressed that you ran it three times. WOW!

if you can get on the runner’s world website, they do live updates, too…as long as the site doesn’t crash!! i love how the marathon is such an event for the whole city today…the energy and electricity in the air is so exciting!

I’ll be watching—-I lived in boston for a while, and although I never participated, I still felt like I was a part of it!
