~ thanksgiving nails!

one hand...

...the other hand

[it would be helpful if i could learn to take a photo using my teeth].

~ fall colour!

leaves glinting in sunlight

[yes, i am old. i stopped to smell the flowers to admire a tree].

~ towel #2/3 arrived this week…

honey nut completes the cheerios duo!

"the original"

one more towel yet to show up…it’s cereal-themed but not cheerios!

~the puzzle has been languishing, untouched, since a week ago today. the dining room table still looks like this:

good thing i'm not hosting a turkey dinner this weekend! nowhere to sit!

maybe i will make some puzzle time tomorrow, thanksgiving monday. although, i already have about 217 things i would like to do tomorrow, and it’s going to be sunny and 26 degrees celsius…chances of puzzling? not high.

~ i picked up my pottery bowl yesterday. look!

haha, i didn't realize til i snapped this photo that the bowl is the exact same colours as my little step-stool - totally unplanned, that

it turned out even better than i thought it would!

here you can see the difference in colour a little more...

it’s a little conservative. next time, i’ll know to add lots of contrast colour.

~my life as a diva angel

these were to be my fall go-to leggings!...

…was very short lived.

i started my work shift on friday at 12:30 p.m. kid you not – i looked at my watch – at 12:54 p.m., i heard a muffled “pop” as i unpacked some merchandise. i didn’t even have to look – yup, already a run had begun. *sigh.* that meant that i spent the next 8 + hours sashaying around theOTHERstore, camouflaging my runny rear end. and the diva angels were even more comfy than the first pair of fake jeans! *pout.*

i kept the receipt, so when i’m in toronto this wednesday, i am going to attempt a return. ideally, i would appreciate my money back. but, i may yet be walking out with the russian porn stars…i’ll let ya know!

~ it was so warm yesterday that i could comfortably wear shorts to work:

any excuse to show you those delightful nike frees, again

shorts on thanksgiving weekend? i’ll take it!

~ the blogger-girl who cried wolf: after stating that i was going to give up daily blogging, i did indeed skip monday. then i blogged every day since. have to confess that i am super-pissed i broke my streak. monday was sil ana’s bday – i could have talked about that, or i could have shared mom’s pumpkin pie recipe, or my latest knitting discovery (it’s nifty!)…so i guess what i am trying to say is i have no idea what i’m doing i’m not going to make any more proclamations, one way or another. let’s just see what unfolds.

~ true to my word (at least i kept my word about something!) i’ve started reading “the girl with the dragon tattoo.” i came thisclose to giving up…vfbf joanne had warned me that it takes a bit to get into the book. i was seriously at page 47 and totally ready to throw in the towel – irma voth was on my pillow – when on page 48 the character of lisbeth salander appeared. ka-pow! the book improved 1000% within a page, and now i am hooked!

question o’ the day: so. if i were to backdate a blog post to monday, october 3rd, at the end of the year, would i be able to say i blogged every day? seeking your opinion, please!

tomorrow: recap of family thanksgiving and a new experience!

enjoy your fun-day sun-day!

The moment that Lisbeth showed up was when it turned dramatically for me too! I’m so glad you pushed onward. πŸ™‚

i think she is going to be key in holding my interest…just read a chapter where she was absent, and it was a snorefest, again. must. read. on.!!!

Okay..here goes. I love the nails, the bowl, the tree, and the honey nut towel!
So sad about the tights! Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a pretty absorbing read (but yes, slow to get into…and I have some issues with the book but I’ll wait till you’ve read it! I do want to read the other two, haven’t gotten to them yet).
I say back date away. I’ll never tell!

    • 1970kikiproject  On October 9, 2011 at 5:29 pm

Oh, I’d love to discuss dragon tattoo girl with you, zo! Could be a while…my paperback is a zillion pages long!
      Thanks for your vote!

Love your nails – groovy stuff!
Love the tree shot – we were enjoying that here too until a few days ago when hurricane-like winds took all our leaves off! 😦
LOVE the way your bowl turned out! “less is more” so no need to regret anything here!
Funny pants story – hope you get a refund!
Blog when you wish to but don’t worry about missing a day here and there – we all know how life changes and goals change accordingly. In keeping with my above “less is more” quote (!) i really liked your original thoughts that you’d blog on special occasions. πŸ™‚ (however, back-dating is totally fine, too!)

oh no!!! please do not send gusty winds this way! it is like july here, today! hope you guys have nice weather, too! thanks for all your thoughts, g! tangent: your “less is more” made me think of the “more with less” cookbooks!

YES. Backdate for Monday. I’ll be honest, I’ve done that—I blog for a university that I work for, and when it’s my week to blog I have to do 3 posts in the week. A couple times I forgot till toward the end of the week and posted 3 at once…all dated appropriately. At the very worst, you’ll have to put an * and side note when you talk about blogging everyday of the year!

Today is going to be beautiful in NY…78F (no clue what that is in celsius!). I’m going to a toddler birthday party and a wedding—-I love summer-in-fall!
Hope your weather is fab too and you get to wear shorts πŸ™‚

Yesterday I thought of your post from the other day, and asked my mom to dig up this quote I love…

“Faith is knowing that one of two things will happen: Either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly.”

    • 1970kikiproject  On October 9, 2011 at 8:36 am

oh, thanks for sharing quote, lisa!! i am going to write that out for myself and post it up with my favourite quotes. i’m in shorts already! glad you have fabulous weather today, too. enjoy the party and the wedding. both sound like fun. thanks for your backdating vote. pre-blogging/prepping, post-dating, is there a difference?!!

  • Stephanie  On October 9, 2011 at 7:54 am

Nope! That would be a giant cheater-pants move. But if the back-dated post had multiple photos from different angles of you modeling the russian porn star leggings…all would be forgiven. (Buy them, buy them, buy them!) Love your autumnal nails, by the way!

    • 1970kikiproject  On October 9, 2011 at 8:41 am

stephanie, you just keep working on me wit the porn star tights!..you’re convincing me! when am i ever going to find those again, in my life?!! plus, i have a feeling that a dollar store is not going to want to issue a refund…likely exchange is the best i’m going to be able to do…enjoy your day!
