did i getcha this morning?!! haha! i do love to do april fool’s jokes (yes, when i was little, you can be sure that every year i tried the “there’s a spider on your back!!!” with my parents. that hilarity never gets old when you are <10 years old).

anyway, today marks the third annual april fool’s day blog post. here is the one from 2011 and here is the joke from 2010. good times.

today is a special day for another reason, too – it’s the brother‘s 39th birthday!

happy birthday, bro!

the brother is right up there among my most favourite people on this entire earth. even though i am older, i look up to him and respect him enormously. the brother is very funny (we share a similar sense of humour), kind, smart, athletic, humble…honestly, he is an all-around awesome person, and i am so fortunate to be his sister.

and now…introducing: an exciting april theme!

thanks, to stephanie, i found out that there is a blogging challenge available for this month! i’m going to give it a shot!

[sidenote: do you know how extremely proud i am that i managed to put add the a-z challenge widget to my sidebar??! i’m getting downright techie!]

the project is called the blogging from a-z challenge. you can read all about it and get more info by clicking that link ^^ (or click the widget!) but in a nutshell, participants will blog every day in april (except sundays, from here on out) and the only *rule* is that you have to use the letter of the alphabet of the day, somehow. my take on the project will be to use the daily letter of the alphabet as the first word in my blog title. tonight’s blog post worked out perfectly! [sidenote: i am participant #1485 on the official list!]

so, yes, this means a return to almost-daily blog posting for the month of april. and that is cool. i’ll avoid making any project proclamations; instead, i’ll simply say that 1) i am not going to stress about content or quality – some posts may be short ‘n’ snappy or photo-heavy. 2) i like the idea of having a finite amount of time – when the month of may arrives, i’ll return to my random posting schedule. 3) i am eager to see what blog post titles and ideas i can generate with each letter of the alphabet, and mesh that creativity with whatever is going on in life, at that time. this is going to be FUN!

so, tomorrow will be brought to you by the LETTER B!

did you play any april fool’s jokes today? hear of any good ones? i remember that back in grade four, the entire class hid in the coat closets before our teacher came into the room, in the morning. we thought we were SO FUNNY!!!!

ah, so much fun! you almost got me this time and then i started to wonder when i read about the clothing budget, etc. that you’d get as a pro. blogger – too funny! Happy b’day to Chris, too!
the kids and i played an April Fool’s joke on Jeff this morning – got it ready yesterday actually… changed up the bags of cereal in all the boxes… he was totally surprised and laughed and it was the perfect joke to do with my little ones who thought they were sooooo smart to “fool daddy”! 🙂

oh, that is a fantastic and funny joke to play on jeff, with the kids – i love it! i can just picture all of the giggling going on! yes, i included a few details in my joke that would be a total “dream job” scenario!!

Hahaha! Good one, Cathy. Actually, I started replying to your post by congratulating you, but because I was on my iphone, it was taking too long, so I deleted my message and was going to wait until I was on my computer. Then I read someone’s comment about it perhaps being an April fool’s joke and it got me thinking…. and then I doubted you… not that you wouldn’t be a fab blogger for the city of Waterloo! 🙂

We drove to Sarnia today to drop off the kiddies with Grandma- I coached Carys beforehand to tell Grandma that mommy was going to have another baby. It was awesome and everyone’s expression was the same and priceless at that. You could tell that everyone was happy but, at the same time, thinking that we must be out of our minds…. Then Carys told them it was all a joke.

I’m just happy this day fell on a Sunday. I don’t enjoy AF’s jokes at school. Kids just don’t know when to stop! Good luck on April’s challenge!

ok, your joke that you had carys pull on her grandma is AWESOME!!! because no one would suspect carys of pulling that off, at such a young age! enjoy your childfree time over the next few days! i bet it will feel strangely quiet around the home! yes, grades 1-6, april fool’s is as fabulous as christmas, to their minds – glad you “missed out” this year!

  • Lisa  On April 1, 2012 at 8:39 pm

Happy Birthday Brother! Yes, you definitely got me—but I’m glad you emailed me and let me know because that part made me laugh too!

I did not play any April Fools jokes this year….but I’ll have to try and think of something for next year!

    • 1970kikiproject  On April 1, 2012 at 9:10 pm

you are such a good sport, lisa! hey, even my mom believed this morning’s joke, so you were in good company. i could totally see you coming up with something related to wellness ie” do/drink x and it will be so wonderful for you!!” on your blog for a joke!

  • Stephanie  On April 1, 2012 at 8:38 pm

Honestly, I don’t love April Fool’s jokes. Well, I don’t mind jokes like yours, which are just silly and harmless. But I think that a lot of pranks have an underlying meanness to them. Or maybe I’m just socially awkward enough as it is and hate being laughed at! Ha!

    • Stephanie  On April 1, 2012 at 8:39 pm

      Good luck with the challenge!!!!

      • 1970kikiproject  On April 1, 2012 at 9:14 pm

well, thank YOU for linking to the challenge, stephanie, or else i would not have known about it. should be fun! i don’t like mean jokes, either – clever is ok. one of my all-time faves is the radio station that said, everyone put a paper bag over your telephone at 10 a.m. because they are cleaning out the phone lines and dirt/dust is going to get blasted thru your phone….i thought that was pretty inventive!
