30 day photography challenge

day #3: clouds

the early morning view

i took this photo yesterday at 6 a.m., from the condo casa living room windows. after seeing it POUR RAIN alllll day friday, i was relieved to see only grey clouds, not rain clouds!

what you cannot see in this photo is the speed at which the clouds were moving across the sky – i could actually watch as they passed me by, moving from left to right at a rapid pace.

a-ha realization: if not for this photo project, i would not have “stopped to watch the clouds roll by” at 6 a.m. on a saturday morning. taking this photo provided a peaceful and centring start to my day.

I love watching clouds especially storm clouds. I think storms are beautiful but one has to respect their power. In this part of the country they can sow wide paths of total destruction.

so true, johanna. and you have had some intense storms in the time we have been blog friends. watching rain clouds is fascinating – they change so quickly! – as long as you are warm and dry!

Happy Sunday! I know that when I’m looking to take pictures, I get a lot more observant of my surroundings than I would otherwise. It would be a good thing to incorporate into everyday walking around!

i love the photos from your latest vacation, zo – looking forward to seeing more. you are right: taking photos does make you stop and really pay attention to your surroundings!

  • Stacie  On June 3, 2012 at 8:16 am

Very nice! Luckily your challenge did not get messed up by a completely sunny day!

    • 1970kikiproject  On June 3, 2012 at 11:00 am

haha – yes, that would have been *unfortunate* to have no clouds to capture! i would have had to draw some on paper! 🙂

I can really appreciate that you wouldn’t have noticed the clouds if it weren’t for the pic—sometimes it’s easy to just float through life only focusing on the tasks at hand. I’m working on this, and I love the way the camera helped you do it! Something to think about for sure!

thanks, lisa! it was just on of those “meant to be moments.” i hope you see some awesome sunrises on marco island!

Great photo, Cathy! I love being up early to see what the sky has to offer. I had been getting many great sunrises and sunsets in the fall, but lately, not much to see. But I’m up so if it’s there, I’ll catch it!! Have a great day!
