for the love of walmart

i think i already told you that we have a new walmart that is within walking distance from the condo casa. i drove over today because i wanted to do a sizable shop and with the length of my list, i knew there was no way i could backpack everything home – even for only a 15 minute walk!

photo of the day: wednesday, november 7th:

carbonated water: one doll-ah! (slightly more than the $0.89 i pay at food basics but i was not about to trot all over the city for a few cents)

i totally love the walmart pricing system – it makes no sense. some prices are flat $1, $4, etc. others are $3.97, $7.12, $5.48…they totally avoid the “everything at $x.99” that you see at most stores.

hey – does anybody else wish that prices displayed included any applicable tax? i do.

i am off to a live author event tonight (haha, i know that wording is wrong, of course the author is alive if they are giving a reading, but that is how i keep phrasing it in my head). i hope to get a picture of me and rosie dimanno (sports columnist for the toronto star who is presenting her new book “the pat burns story”) but just in case i chicken out it doesn’t work out, i’m playing it safe with this walmart photo and chitchat, above. the stars are in alignment to attend the reading tonight! it’s free (win), it’s a six minute walk away (win), it’s about a topic that interests me (pat burns was coach of the toronto maple leafs during my teenage sports fanatic phase), and it starts at 7 pm (win) – i can be home for a regular bedtime! hopefully, there will be a fair number of people who attend!

The pricing in various stores absolutely drives me crazy! I would love uniformity. I think that’s why I like Dollar stores so much. How exciting about the author event. I’ve gone to a few at our local Barnes & Noble and they are very interesting! Looking forward to hearing all about it.

unfortunately, the author event was a complete bust!!! it was in a bar atmosphere, there was only about 4 other men and she wasn’t there a few minutes after 7 pm, so i left!! too bad. i love dollar stores, too!

stacie, with all you have been through lately NO apologies necessary, my friend! (btw, i am not at that book thing: VERY small turnout, the author was not there, i felt awkward and left! so glad i did not rely on that photo opp!). every day blogging DOES take planning, eh!

Have fun! It’s snowing and so cold here…the thought of walking anywhere makes my already cold feet feel even colder!
