Welcome to my blog! I’ll start by explaining exactly what the title of this blog means. First, Kiki is a nickname – my real name is Cathy. And 1970 is the year of my birth. When I turned 40 back in January 2010, I thought it’d be super cool to start a year-long project. You can read about the project itself here, and the 2nd edition of the 1970 Kiki Project can be found here. This blog was my birthday present to myself in January, 2010. And what a gift! I quickly discovered I love blogging! I feel like I still have a lot to learn and would like to improve the blog itself – that will come with time.

I live in the heart of Uptown Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.

I love where I live: the Condo Casa is a loft in a renovated building that dates back to the 1800’s. The lifestyle of being able to walk to work, to shopping, and to coffee shops suits me to a “T!” I swear I will live here ’til it’s time for the retirement village!

I work in my neighbourhood at the store; my job is perfect as I get paid to talk about a favourite hobby!

My hobbies include knitting:

celtic pullover, spring 2011

watching movies (of the non-Hollywood Blockbuster variety, mostly)

…and spending time with friends:

…and family – especially my two little nieces, Little E and Baby C.

A new hobby is travel! I took a solo trip to Florida in July 2010 which ignited a passion to see more of the world.

…and then I went back to one of my favourite places on earth, Aruba, in March 2011:

Random loves:

a not-uncommon stash!
