what a dull, dreary and dismal day…
…OUTSIDE!
not
INSIDE!
yesterday, i put out a few xmas touches:
now, i am about to begin CHRISTMAS CARDS!!!
longtime readers will remember that last year, i made my own christmas cards as one of my 41 new experiences.
NOT embarking upon that adventure creative undertaking this year! once was enough!
a little background music…
ready, set, write/address/stamp!
do you send out holiday cards? i LOVE sending and receiving cards – there are a lot of people with whom i am in touch each year only via our card exchange, but i really look forward to this tradition! my goal is to have my card party completed by next weekend.

As with most things Christmas, I love the card sending/recieving tradition. Each year my list gets smaller but I hang on. I have an arched doorway between my living room and my dining room and the cards get hung on a lighted garland I have hanging over that door. I love looking at them, reading them, and yes, counting them.
i bet your card display looks wonderful, johanna! love the idea of the lights + the cards + the archway. and, yes, i count my cards, too! (is it greedy to say i hope i get more today?!).
Yes, I send out cards. I love getting them, too! I haven’t even started this year, in fact I need to see what cards I still have and whether I need to get another box (or two).
zo, you will have to set up a card party for yourself – have fun! i discovered half a box of cards that i did not know i had…oh well, now i can send out even more! checking the mail slot in december is the BEST, just to see how many cards arrive that day!
I love sending Christmas cards. I do it every year and look forward to it. – I love your Nativity scene– and, I also love Boney M Christmas tunes. I’m sure it made up for the dismal day we had yesterday!
nicole, i love your “where is frankie?” advent idea – excited to see what you come up with this year! yea for boney m! i did have a great aft. and your family is on my xmas list – haha!
I love sending Christmas card but as Stacie said, we get so few in return. Ralph does artwork and I generally do the sentiment inside. We have them printed. Found a great deal on the card stock at A.C.Moore this year so that made me happy! Hopefully they will be completed and at the printer this week. Then I get to do the work of addressing and sending out! Takes time, but we love hearing from people what their thoughts are on the artwork. Ralph does a great job…he says I’m prejudiced!
fran, i love that you and ralph send out hand-produced cards. they are collectors’ items!! i am lucky, i’d say most people to whom i send a card also send me one. although there are some that it seems to be tradition that i only send, and that is ok. good luck with getting your cards out!
Hey! just found your blog 🙂
We had a day with absolutely no sun and all rain today too!
Love your Christmas cards!
hey, TR! we are practically neighbours! i am in TO quite a lot – love seeing the photos on your blog because i recognize the landmarks! let’s keep our fingers crossed for SUN today!! thanks for your comment!
I love sending cards! But I think only about 25% of those I send also send them to me. So, it’s not an equal exchange. But I find it so much more personal than an email (or nothing!)!
stacie, i so agree – christmas is one time where sending a card via snail mail beats an email card – that is fun that you send the cards for the enjoyment of doing so, not just to get them in return!
